About This Location

Founded in 1695, Christ Church has been an active parish and symbol of faith since the birth of America. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, and several signers of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were among its congregation. Its rectors, the Rev. Jacob Duché and Bishop William White, were successively chaplains of the Continental Congress. On various occasions the entire Congress attended prayer services here.
